1. [+745, -29] After seeing Korean idol groups like Black Pink, Soshi, KARA, and TVXQ, you can tell that Japanese idol groups like AKB are nothing but school talent shows... ㅋㅋㅋㅋ J-Pop used to dominate back in the early 2000s ㅋㅋ now K-Pop is just better
2. [+732, -20] From my own personal experience, Shinokubo in Tokyo is already filled with junior and high school students who love K-Pop and there are a ton of K-Pop ads around Shibuya. It is indeed hot in Japan right now. I've actually found out more about Korean idols while living in Tokyo than when I was in Korea...
3. [+39, -5] I was surprised in Japan when I saw stores selling BTS and Twice badges and I was wondering who would ever buy this stuff until I saw a group of high school kids taking their time picking out which ones they wanted ㅋㅋ
4. [+35, -1] Japanese idols are completely behind in skill, you could tell by their Mnet auditions. Their main job is to show happiness and aegyo so they're behind professionally when it comes to dancing and singing. They seem to be wanting a piece of the K-Pop pie but for idols who have been working for 7- years, their skills are barely up to par with our Korean minors who are still trainees...
5. [+31, -4] Hallyu isn't just in Japan right now, it's worldwide. The Japanese probably think it's a minority of the Japanese who are into K-Pop but it's not, tsk tsk.
6. [+27, -5] Just until 15 years ago, Japanese idols like Johnny's were explosive in popularity. Taki, Yappi, Kinki Kids, SMAP, etc. They never promoted in Korea but they already had fanclubs here and everything. Then Korean idols started growing at a super fast rate with manhwa-like visuals, tall heights, amazing bodies, and multi-talented in singing and acting... It's going to be hard for Japanese idols to ever catch back up.
7. [+24, -3] There really is a stark difference in skill after seeing 'Produce 48'... Maybe it's a difference in culture but their style of idols would not work at all in Korea.
8. [+16, -2] Hard to feel happy over the Japanese acknowledging Hallyu because they have a history of just taking what they like and claiming it as theirs
9. [+15, -3] Japanese idols need to work on their singing style if anything...
10. [+12, -2] 'Produce 48' alone is enough proof why Hallyu is more popular
